Snow & Valentines Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day to you!! I hope you have a fun day planned today!

On to other topics…NYC is a wonderful place. There are loads of things to do and see, and many different kinds of people to keep things fresh and interesting. I thought I might share a few photos snapped over the last few days.

We got a bit of snow recently – an oddity for NYC. Normally, snowstorms approach NYC and part like the Red Sea, leaving us snowless. A pity for me, as I love the stuff.

My cat loves it too! He planted his furry butt by the window on the snow day and watched the snow drift down. I opened the window for him to sniff at the cold air, and he inspected it with great enthusiasm. He likes to keep tabs on what’s going on.

The snow started rather slowly, and somehow I thought it would just fizzle out, like always, but to my surprise, the snow kept falling into the night, leaving us with a lot of the stuff! About a foot, in all.

It was a huge undertaking to clear the streets, but we finally got out after a day of digging, and went to the Public Library to pick up the DVD I had requested – Elizabeth Zimmermann’s Knitting Workshop! I’ve been having fun watching it, and picking up a few tips along the way. On the way home from the library, I saw this enigmatic mural:

It says “Art is significance, not appearance”. I leave you to take from that what you will.

It has (finally) occurred to me that it’s Chinese New Year today, as well! Happy Year of the Tiger everyone!
